On March 4th, we sponsored the Ruby Community Meetup in Montevideo, Uruguay — another year supporting this community and a space we’re always happy to be part of.

At Howdy, events like these represent what we care about most: community, shared learning, and real conversations about technology.

From engineers discussing AI workflows to practical Rails architecture, the meetup created the kind of space where developers exchange ideas, challenge assumptions, and learn from each other.

And honestly, those are the events we enjoy the most.

  1. Two talks, two perspectives on modern development
  2. The meetup took place in our Howdy House in Montevideo. The evening featured two talks that sparked thoughtful conversations among the Ruby community.

    • Darío Macchi“Fast Isn’t Enough – How to Code Quickly with AI”
Darío, Dev Advocate at Howdy, focused on how engineers can use AI tools effectively while maintaining clarity, authorship, and good engineering practices.
    • Jonathan Javiel“Database Views in Rails – a real-world example”
Jonathan walked the audience through a practical approach to working with database views in Rails, showing how this technique can simplify complex queries and improve maintainability in real-world applications.

Two very different topics, one shared theme: better tools, better decisions, better software.

  3. A 4.8/5 experience and a community that wants more
  4. The meetup was a great experience across production and logistics, receiving an overall satisfaction score of 4.8 / 5.

Even more meaningful was the feedback from the atendees:

    • Would recommend Howdy as a community partner: Yes
    • Interested in future collaborations with Howdy: Yes

For us, that’s what matters most. Not just sponsoring events and meetups, but building long-term relationships with the communities that make the tech ecosystem stronger.
