On August 16th, we hosted Howdy Game Day in São Paulo, an invite-only experience that brought a group of developers together to watch a match from a private VIP box at Arena Corinthians. No technical talks, no work agenda. The idea was simple: get the community together in a different setting and let the conversations happen on their own.

The Day Started Before the Stadium

We picked up every guest by van, and the conversations began right there, before anyone had even stepped into Arena Corinthians. Each developer shared their own experience with Howdy: how they had joined the community, what they were working on, what they were hoping to get out of the night. By the time the group reached the stadium, they were no longer a set of guests who didn't know each other.

Football, Catering, and Conversations That Weren't About Work

Inside the box, the full VIP experience included catering throughout the match, while the group swapped career stories, asked questions, and built new connections. There was no sales pitch, no corporate presentation. The night was built for the community to get to know each other outside the usual meetup or conference format, with football as the excuse and everything else as a natural consequence of putting the right people in the right room.

What Guests Said

The comments from attendees were the best summary of the night. One guest shared that watching a match from a box at a stadium like Corinthians' is already a unique experience on its own, and that living it surrounded by other developers who share the same interests made it even better. Another highlighted the format and the direct contact with the whole Howdy team, noting that the event brought visibility to a brand they hadn't known before and called the moment memorable. Someone else summed up exactly what we're going for with these events: the team's approachability created a comfortable environment for exchanging ideas, to the point where they could get a real sense of the company's culture from the inside.

Howdy Game Day exists to bring the tech community together and keep growing our network across LATAM. This was the first edition in São Paulo, but the response from that group of developers makes one thing obvious: this isn't a one-off. If this night made anything clear, it's that the format works, and we're already thinking about which city comes next.
